Pyrmont Bridge Remediation-Overwater Temporary Truss Bridge
Pyrmont Bridge is a historic timber truss bridge located within Darling Harbour in Sydney. FSC Range were engaged to develop a complex temporary works structure to facilitate the remediation of the existing timber trusses throughout the spans bridging over the water.
The project involved the design of 3 primary 25 m long steel trusses connected with strut and tie members to span between the original bridge piers below the super structure. The structure was designed to support the loading applied from 24 hydraulic jacks used to deload the bridge and accommodate a work platform for personnel to undertake the remediation of the existing structure. The load taken by the system is approximately 400T.
Our process included: Optioneering & Value Engineering, Construction Phase Services, 3D modelling, Inspection & Clash detection as well as Supplementary As-built drawings documenting the remediation works.
We love seeing our designs help to facilitate the repair of this beautiful bridge, which now gains many more years of useful life.
